Andrea Alms, M.S., M.B.A.
General Manager
Ms. Alms is General Manager of Spinner Technologies and responsible for developing technology businesses. She assisted in the creation of Spinner Technologies as a for-profit subsidiary of the University of Virginia Patent Foundation; Spinner Technologies helps offers numerous business services to University of Virginia scientists and engineers as they bring their research to the marketplace through the creation of new ventures. Ms. Alms has work closely in the development and, in some cases, the formation of Spinner's client companies.
In addition, Ms. Alms led the development of the Jefferson Corner Group, which is a member managed investment fund with a focus on investing in technology companies. Her background includes 15 years of financial, budgetary and management responsibilities for small to medium sized laboratories and technology businesses.
Prior to joining Spinner Technologies, Ms. Alms was a Licensing Associate at the University of Virginia Patent Foundation and Research Associate at Harvard Medical School.
Ms. Alms earned her Bachelor's of Arts Degree in economics from Wellesley College, Master of Science in Pharmacology from University of Virginia, and Master of Business Administration.
